This is a popular houseplant due to its gorgeous eye grabbing leaves. Zebra plants like a lot of sunlight! It can bloom a vibrant yellow flower in the late summer/early fall. The flower can last for up to 6 weeks, however, it does not blossom often. Sunshine will help flower growth. This plant needs patience and care.

Native to Atlantic Forest vegetation of Brazil. This plant needs attention and care. A good plant owner should use a balanced fertilizer every two-three weeks during the warmer months. Also, it should be re potted once a year, in the Spring. Zebra’s can be propagated! 

Part Sun


This plant likes most rooms with windows facing west or east. You could place it in a spot away from a very sunny window – as light intensity goes down quick as you move away from the light source.

Water once a week. Before watering, feel the soil, top layer should be dry, if not dry wait a day or two. If the soil still is wet you risk giving the plant too much water, you don’t want it to rot.

Mist the leaves since this plant enjoys humidity

Too much water or too little can cause leaves to fall off

This plant likes the soil to be moist but not soggy

Use lukewarm water to keep soil temperature elevated

Remove any flowers that die

Try to only have two rows of leaves in height. This will help so that the plant does not become too leggy and gives the plant a chance to grow new leaves
