The Dirt
Native to the America tropics. Philodendron derives from the Greek word philo, which means love/affection and dendron meaning tree. McColley’s can grow to be 1-3ft tall and wide. They can grow quickly and it is best to propagate cuttings during Spring. Also, they are quite tolerant to dry conditions but feel free to mist the leaves during the Summer.
Part Sun
This plant likes most rooms with windows facing west or east. You could place it in a spot away from a very sunny window – as light intensity goes down quick as you move away from the light source.
High
Water twice a week. This plant loves water more than usual. Feel the top soil, it likes to be moist. If the soil is wet do not water and check again in a day or two. Otherwise, you risk giving the plant too much water, you don’t want the roots to rot.
Pet Toxic
Only when ingested it may cause mild oral and gastrointestinal upsetness. Keep out of reach from pets and small children.
